There is much confusion concerning the Catholic Church’s response to persons who experience same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria. We know our call and mission to love, to will the good of the other. What does this look like in real life, especially in these situations? This question is especially relevant for parents with children struggling with these topics. As a parent, you don’t have to choose between the Church and your child. It is possible to have a loving and supportive relationship with your children or young adults while not embracing beliefs contrary to the Faith. Encourage members are parents, spouses, sibling and friends of people who identify as LGBTQ. They are looking for help to keep the faith and keep their family bonds intact.
EnCourage members work together to understand the experiences of their loved ones, and to respond to them with compassion. They know that it is possible to express love for someone even if we can’t support all of their choices or actions. Find out more.
Courage members are men and women who experience same-sex attractions and who have made a commitment to strive for chastity.
